An unranked result of note was Naveen Naveen (IND) upsetting 2022 Junior World Champion Dzhabrail Gadzhiev (AZE) 5-3 in the round of 16. Bronze medalists at the U23 World Championships were Senior World runner-up #14 Vladimeri Gamkrelidze (GEO) and Sagar Jaglan (IND). Magomaev (RUS) captured his second U23 world title to go along with gold in 2021, notching an impressive win over #5 Ali Savadkouhi (IRI) while there. Magomaev beat Senior World runner-up #14 Vladimeri Gamkrelidze (GEO) 8-5 in the round of 16 in this competition to show the depth Russia fields at 79 kilograms.

Bronze medalists at the U23 World Championships were #5 Arslan Bagaev (RUS) and Joshua Morodion (GER). #15 Aaron Brooks (USA) moves up ten spots in the rankings to #5 for beating #5 Arslan Bagaev (RUS) in the semifinals. Bagaev falls four spots to #9 for his loss to #5 Brooks coupled with his loss to #8 Azamat Dauletbekov (KAZ) at the Senior World Championships.
