December 2025 Men's Freestyle Wrestling International Rankings
57 KG
Caleb Smith (PUR) won the Bill Farrell Memorial over Sultan Kurmanaliyev (KAZ) with #15 Munkh Erdene Batkhuyag (MGL) taking bronze over Elijah Oliver (USA). Smith debuts in the rankings at #18 for his win over Batkhuyag, who falls four spots to #19 for his loss to Smith. #3 Spencer Lee (USA) was pinned by Andrey Yatsenko (UKR) up at 135 lb at RAF 3.
Lee falls two spots to #5 for his loss to Yatsenko and Yatsenko is unranked at 57 or 61 KG due to extended inactivity prior to his match with Lee (out since April 2024) and the uncertainty of his full return to competition makes it difficult to give real value to him in the rankings. If Yatsenko has a full comeback for the 2026 season in mind, then he will be up for ranking consideration but a one off match with a startup Pro Wrestling League that in and of itself is difficult to determine how long will last is not good enough to demand a top ten spot at 57 or 61 KG.
Abdymalik Karachov (KGZ) won the Islamic Solidarity Games over Islam Bazarganov (AZE) with #5 Gulomjon Abdullaev (UZB) and Ali Momeni (IRI) taking bronze. Abdymalik Karachov (KGZ) enters the rankings at #10 for beating #5 Gulomjon Abdullaev (UZB). Abdullaev falls six spots to #11 for his loss to Karachov along with losses to #6 Bekzat Almaz Uulu (Senior World Championships) and #10 Rakhat Kalzhan (Senior Asian Championships). #17 Abubakar Mutaliev (RUS) beat #10 Abdymalik Karachov (KGZ) to start the month (November 8th) at PWL 11 but cannot get a retroactive top ten place in the rankings due to Karachov being unranked at the time of Mutaliev’s win.
Dimchik Batamunkuev (BLR) enters the rankings at #14 for upsetting Russian Nationals runner-up #13 Amir Chamzyn (RUS) by pin at PWL 11. Chamzyn falls two spots to #15 for his loss to Batamunkuev. Lev Pavlov (RUS) won the Korkin Cup over Katsume Daito (JPN) with Artur Chebodaev (RUS) and Yegor Yavlovsky (RUS) taking bronze. Magomed Abdurakhmanov (RUS) won the Yusup Abdusalamov Memorial over Magomed Gazigandov (RUS) with Bashir Israilov (RUS) and Osman Sultanov (RUS) taking bronze.
Khabib Mekhtikhanov (RUS) won the Shamil Umakhanov Memorial over Magomed Gazigandov (RUS) with Shamsedin Babaev (RUS) and Osman Sultanov (RUS) taking bronze. Mehdi Veysi (IRI) beat Ali Yahyapour (IRI) in the Iranian Pro League. Yunus Yavbatirov (RUS) won the Soslan Andiev Memorial over Erik Khayriyan (ARM) with Imir Kardanov (RUS) and Bashir Israilov (RUS) taking bronze.
61 KG
Austin DeSanto (USA) won the Bill Farrell Memorial over Bekhbayar Erdenebat (MGL) with Kyle Burwick (USA) winning bronze over #16 Tuvshintulga Tumenbileg (MGL). #16 Tuvshintulga Tumenbileg (MGL) is out of the rankings for losses to #14 Austin DeSanto (USA) and Kyle Burwick (USA). Austin DeSanto (USA) is back in the 61 KG rankings for past ranked wins over #15 Kamyl Kerymov (UKR), Ulukbek Zholdoshbekov (KGZ), and Alec Pantaleo (USA).
#1 Zavur Uguev (RUS) beat #10 Nuraddin Novruzov (AZE) 11-0 at PWL 11. #7 Takara Suda (JPN) won the Korkin Cup over #20 Bato Sultimov (RUS) with #18 Kezhik Mongush (RUS) and Alexander Avelov (RUS) taking bronze. #16 (57) Ramiz Gamzatov (RUS) won the Shamil Umakhanov Memorial over Musa Alibulatov (RUS) with Imam Umarov (RUS) and Akhmed Zubairov (RUS) taking bronze. #13 (57) Reza Atri (IRI) beat Ali Gulizadegan (IRI) in the Iranian Pro League at 61 KG. #19 Artem Gobaev (RUS) won the Soslan Andiev Memorial over Abdul Kalibatov (RUS) with David Seferyan (RUS) and Sulim Dovletmerzaev (RUS) taking bronze.
Andrey Yatsenko (UKR) pinned #5 (57) Spencer Lee (USA) at 135LB’s at RAF 03; I am not ranking Yatsenko right now because he has been inactive since May 2024 and I also do not know if his match against Lee is a sign that he will begin regularly competing again or if it is a one off match considering his past inactivity.
65 KG
Bo Bassett (USA) won the Bill Farrell Memorial over Beau Bartlett (USA) with Kizhan Clarke (GER) taking bronze. #3 (70) Shamil Mamedov (RUS) is back at 65 KG after beating Abbas Ebrahim (IRI) in the Iranian Pro League, and he takes the #3 spot in the rankings. While Mamedov does have a victory over Amouzad at the 2023 Senior World Championships along with beating #2 (61) Abasgadzhi Magomedov (RUS), #7 Abdulmazhid Kudiev (TJK), and #8 Ibragim Ibragimov (RUS), I have Amouzad still holding down the #1 spot due to Amouzad’s superior track record since then (‘24 Olympic silver, ‘25 world gold).
Jordan Oliver (USA) upset #4 Real Woods (USA) 2-2 at RAF 3 along with Bo Bassett (USA) pinning Darrion Caldwell (USA). While a fantastic win for Oliver over a reigning world medalist in Woods, Oliver has not competed since the 2024 70 KG Senior World Team Trials in September 2024, where he made the semis and lost to James Green (USA) before defaulting out in repechage.
As was explained regarding Andrey Yatsenko’s win over Spencer Lee, the same factors apply for Oliver’s exclusion from the rankings, namely his prolonged inactivity plus uncertainty regarding if he is making a full return to competition or solely one off matches with RAF. If it is the former and Oliver has returned for the 2024-2028 quad, then his win over Woods carries major ranking implication, if it is the latter then not so much as 65 KG is a VERY busy weight with athletes with deeper resumes than Oliver as of right now.
#1 Rahman Amouzad (IRI) won the Islamic Solidarity Games over Abdulmazhid Kudiev (TJK) with #8 Bilol Sharip Uulu (KGZ) and #6 Umidjon Jalolov (UZB) taking bronze. Abdulmazhid Kudiev (TJK) is back in the rankings at #7 for beating #8 Bilol Sharip Uulu (KGZ) at the Islamic Solidarity Games.
#2 (61) Abasgadzhi Magomedov (RUS) beat Nick Lee (USA) 10-0 at PWL 11. Islam Guseinov (BLR) joins the rankings at #12 for beating #13 Dzhambulat Kizinov (RUS) in the PWL 11 Russia vs. Belarus duel meet. Reiji Uchida (JPN) won the Korkin Cup over Vladislav Krivoshapkin (RUS) with Chaian Mongush (RUS) and Turbayar Davaanyam (MGL).
Magomedamin Bekbulatov (RUS) won the Yusup Abdusalamov Memorial over Gadzhimurad Omarov (RUS) with Gadzhimagomed Gadzhiev (RUS) and Ibragim Abdurakhmanov (RUS) taking bronze. #11 Bashir Magomedov (RUS) beat #12 Islam Guseynov (BLR) to win the Shamil Umakhanov Memorial with Gadzhimagomed Gadzhiev (RUS) and Ramazan Chankaev (RUS) taking bronze. Gadzhimagomed Gadzhiev (RUS) takes the #20 spot in the rankings for beating #17 (now unranked) Ramazan Ferzaliev (RUS) for bronze. #13 Dzhambulat Kizinov (RUS) won the Soslan Andiev Memorial over Abdula Akhmedov (RUS) with Ismail Umashev (RUS) and #19 Adam Arkhiev (RUS) taking bronze.
70 KG
#9 Ismail Musukaev (HUN) has been removed from the 70 KG rankings as he has spent the past two months competing up at 74 KG in the Bundesliga Wrestling League. #6 Nurkhoza Kaipanov (KAZ) has been removed from the 70 KG rankings due to moving up to 74 KG where he is ranked 18th after taking fifth at the Islamic Solidarity Games with losses to #16 (74) Younes Emami (IRI) and #17 (74) Orozobek Toktomambetov (KGZ). #3 Shamil Mamedov (RUS) returned back to 65 KG where he is currently ranked third.
Tyler Kasak (USA) won the Bill Farrell Memorial over Ian Parker (USA) with Caleb Henson (USA) taking bronze over Ed Scott (USA). #4 Tulga Tumur Ochir (MGL) beat Dalgat Abdulkadyrov (RUS) at PWL 11. #14 Kurban Shiraev (RUS) beat Brayton Lee (USA) 10-0 at PWL 11. #6 Viktor Rassadin (TJK) won the Korkin Cup over #15 Konstantin Kaprynov (RUS) with Tsyren Dugazharpov (RUS) and Taiga Ogino (JPN) taking bronze.
Agadzhi Magomedov (RUS) won the Shamil Umakhanov Memorial over Magomed Isubgadzhiev (RUS) with #18 Gadzhimurad Gadzhiev (RUS) and Adam Gadzhimagomedov (RUS) taking bronze. Mohammad Bakhshi (IRI) enters the rankings at #17 for beating Kadyrov Cup runner-up #8 Ebrahim Elahi (IRI) in the Iranian Pro League. Austin Gomez (MEX) beat Austin O’Conner (USA) at RAF 3. #9 Magomed-Emi Eltemirov (RUS) won the Soslan Andiev Memorial over Alexander Gaidarli (MDA) with Inar Ketiya (RUS) and #10 Abdurakhman Dalgatov (RUS) taking bronze.
74 KG
Will Lewan (USA) won the Bill Farrell Memorial over Peyton Robb (USA) with Bryce Andonian (USA) taking bronze over Yahya Thomas (USA). #9 Inalbek Sheriev (RUS) beat #7 Alan Kudzoev (RUS) at PWL 11 to move up two spots in the rankings to #7 while Kudzoev drops one spot to #8. #10 Magomed Dibirgadzhiev (RUS) beat Yegor Akulich (BLR) at the PWL 11 Russia vs. Belarus duel meet. #1 Kota Takahashi (JPN, SC Kleinostheim) beat #6 Murad Kuramagomedov (HUN, ASV Schorndorf) in the Bundesliga Wrestling League.
Manuel Wagin (GER) was the biggest mover in this month’s rankings as he absolutely showed out in the month of November while competing for SVG 04 Weingarten in Bundesliga Wrestling League. Wagin, a U23 world bronze medalist in October, began his month in the Bundesliga losing to Ismail Musukaev (HUN, SV Wacker Burghausen) on November 1st then rebounded spectacularly by beating #12 Aznaur Tavaev (RUS, KSC Hosbach) on November 15th and beat #15 Timur Bizhoev (RUS, ASV Mainz 88) on November 29th. For his efforts, Wagin debuts in the international rankings at #13 for his wins over #12 Aznaur Tavaev (RUS) and #15 Timur Bizhoev (RUS); #12 Aznaur Tavaev falls three spots to #15 while #15 Timur Bizhoev moves up one spot to #14 for beating Tavaev in the ASV Mainz 88 and KSC Hosbach duel meet.
An important note regarding Wagin’s ranking placement, prior to his exceptional November, Wagin had accumulated multiple losses throughout the year while unranked (Ismail Musukaev in November, Muhammed Ozmus at U23 World’s in October, #20 Ismail Khaniev and LaDarion Lockett at U20 World’s in August, Aghanazar Novruzov and Ion Marcu in March at the U23 European Championships), all the athletes who beat Wagin while he was unranked, while very solid in their own right, do not now retroactively get a spot in the rankings for their wins over him.
For it to qualify as a ranked win, you have to beat them while they were ranked (see #20 (86) Max McEnelly at 86 for his wins from August at U20 world’s over #9 (86) Abolfazl Rahmani and #11 (86) Bozigit Islamgereev), otherwise you lessen the value of the athlete’s win by immediately clogging the ranking full of guys above them who themselves don’t have other ranked wins outside of your now ranked athlete who was unranked at the time of when they were beaten.
#16 Younes Emami (IRI) won the Islamic Solidarity Games over Aghanazar Novruzov (AZE) with Orozobek Toktomambetov (KGZ) and Magomedrasul Asluev (BRN) taking bronze. 70 KG Senior World bronze medalist #6 (70) Nurkhoza Kaipanov (KAZ) returns to the 74 KG rankings at #18 for losses to #16 Younes Emami (IRI) and #17 Orozobek Toktomambetov (KGZ) at the Islamic Solidarity Games.
