Pound for Pound
I moved #13 Mason Parris and #12 Wyatt Hendrickson into the top ten at #8 and #9 because they are more accomplished internationally as of right now then the trio of #10 Jax Forrest, #11 Parker Keckeisen, and #12 Jordan Oliver. I will explain this in more depth below, first with the credentials of Forrest, Keckeisen, and Oliver and then the accomplishments of Parris and Hendrickson.
#10 Jax Forrest’s young senior level career is littered with elite domestic wins (‘23 61 KG Senior World Champ #4 (65) Vito Arujau, #9 (61) Nathan Tomasello, ‘22 61 KG Senior World 5th place finisher #8 (65) Seth Gross) along with fantastic wins over two Senior Asian Champions in #6 (61) Taiyrbek Zhumashbek Uulu (KGZ) and #14 (65) Takara Suda (JPN).
#11 Parker Keckeisen is someone who has improved by leaps and bounds at the 86 kilogram weight class, improving from losing to #7 (86) Marcus Coleman in the finals of the Bill Farrell Memorial Invitational in November to beating #1 Zahid Valencia in December at RAF 04 and winning the Zagreb Open over #4 (INT) Vladimeri Gamkrelidze (GEO) to rise to #3 in the 86 KG international rankings, but Keckeisein’s limited domestic resume (only competed fulltime freestyle beginning in the 2025 season, finished 4th at Final X, losses to #2 Kyle Dake, Carter Starocci, and #18 Chance Marsteller) along with his loss to #7 (86) Marcus Coleman in November in the Bill Farrell Memorial Invitational finals hurt him when comparing him against Parris and Hendrickson.
#12 Jordan Oliver has been a standout in the 65 KG and 70 KG weight classes for over a decade, with wins over Senior World Team members #13 Real Woods, #16 Yianni Diakomihalis, Brent Metcalf, Nick Lee, Jimmy Kennedy, and Frank Molinaro.
What limits Oliver is the fact that since he has been active at the Senior level (2012), he has only won the World/Olympic trials once, in 2020, and then failed to qualify the weight for the Olympics, along with finishing runner-up to Brent Metcalf three times in a row (2013-2015), didn’t place at the 2016 65 KG Olympic Trials then took silver at World Team Trials at 70 kilograms to James Green, drug suspension in 2017, didn’t compete in the 2018 season domestically, runner-up at World Team Trials to Zain Retherford in 2019, didn’t place in 2021 70 KG trials, U.S. Open and World Team Trials runner-up in 2022 at 70 KG, and didn’t place at 2024 70 KG World Team Trials. While Parris and Hendrickson are at a weight in heavyweight that doesn’t boast the same depth as 65 kilograms, but both men have gone the full route of winning through the domestic scene to get the chance to represent the U.S. and get significant ranked international wins while doing so, which Oliver hasn’t.
#1 Zahid Valencia and #2 Kyle Dake both lost in February but as it wasn’t to domestic competition, they are not dropping in the rankings. I put 2025 65 KG U.S. Open champion and Final X runner-up #2 (65) Joey McKenna back in the pound for pound after strong showings at the Zagreb Open and Muhamet Malo Ranking Series Tournament where he beat 2025 61 KG Senior Asian Champion #14 (65) Takara Suda (JPN) and 2025 65 KG Senior World bronze medalist #7 (65) Umidjon Jalolov (UZB) to go along with his win over 2025 70 KG Final X runner-up #15 Yianni Diakomihalis from the 2023 D.A. Kunaev tournament along with beating #25 Jesse Mendez in the U.S. Open finals.
